A constant drainage problem prompted the owners to ask our advice. We imagined, and subsequently installed, a dry river bed to alleviate erosion and standing water.

An urban row-house was modernized with a courtyard off the dining room. Copper arches strung with lights and vines create a sophisticated tableau. Blue chip gravel edged with cobblestones, Japanese painted ferns and Heuchera complete the transformation.
